How Do I Look?

5 Rules for Showing Up Right for a Remote Online Notary Appointment

Rule #1: Look Like You’re Ready for a Professional Meeting

This isn’t a Zoom hangout or a quick FaceTime call — it’s a legally binding notarization.

  • Sit upright in a well-lit space
  • Make sure your face is clearly visible on camera
  • Wear something presentable (yes, even if you're in pajama pants off-screen)

If you’re using biometric identity verification (a process where your live image is compared to your ID photo), your face will be matched to your ID — which means lighting, visibility, and camera angle really matter.

In other words, how you show up on screen is part of the security process.

Rule #2: Bring Valid ID — and Don’t Just Wave It Around

You’ll be asked to present a valid, government-issued photo ID — just like in person.

  • Have your ID ready and remove it from your wallet or case
  • You’ll upload it for credential analysis before your session
  • Bonus tip: Make sure the name on your document matches your ID exactly

No expired IDs. No blurry photos. No surprises.

Rule #3: Don’t Sign Anything Until We’re Live

This is a big one — and it trips people up all the time.

  • Do not pre-sign your document
  • You must sign while on camera in front of the notary
  • We’ll guide you through each step of the document to make sure everything is correct

If it’s already signed, the session can’t proceed. And that’s no fun for anyone.

Rule #4: Use a Device That’s RON-Ready

Remote Online Notarization relies on secure video conferencing platforms, so your tech matters — and so does your security.

  • Smartphone, tablet, or laptop — all are fine
  • Make sure your microphone and camera work
  • Check that your internet connection is stable

I use a state-approved, encrypted platform to protect your privacy every step of the way.

Rule #5: Know That It’s Safe, Legal — and Available Wherever You Are

I’m thrilled to officially offer Remote Online Notary (RON) services — right from the comfort of your home, office, or anywhere in the world.

  • Your session is encrypted, recorded, and fully compliant with Florida law
  • You’ll receive a digital copy of your notarized document
  • Whether you’re in Florida, across the country, or living abroad — if you have internet access, I can notarize for you.
